Listen now | Sharp-as-a-tack, salt-of-the-earth Master of Wine Meg has made, taught and judged wine everywhere from France to Moldova, Chile, Australia and back again.
Loved this episode and so refreshing to hear Meg talking about the who works harder mentality during harvest. My first vintage was in a winery doing 14-16 hour days. I never understood why you wouldn't have two people doing 8 hour shifts? Cheaper if nothing else.
I heard a quote recently....something like 'your success in business isnt tied to your level of burnout or sacrifice.'
Thanks for your comment, and I’m glad you enjoyed Meg’s conversation. Her thoughts on that topic clearly resonated with a few people—a couple of listeners have said as much to me, and I know the episode was circulated within the region in solidarity. I think when people talk about working smarter, they often think about efficiency. Clearly, sustainability is also part of the puzzle—and part of that is attracting and retaining the best people to do (and keep doing) the job.

I could riff on this topic all day Ed! Love the depth of ideas that come up with this long form format
